For this game, I've decided to use the dice plugin to make everything more fair. If it was strictly roleplay, we'd get to a point where no cats would let the seeker find them, and that wouldn't be fun anymore. Roleplay is still allowed and encouraged, but the dice will hopefully help with the logistics of it.
Each round will last for one week, so there will be four rounds throughout the entire month of July. Depending on how many cats are in each round, I will calculate how many move on to the next round.
Dice codes will be put at the end of posts that need them. You can either press the dice button, or if you're in quick reply, input the code ["roll"] without the quotations. The dice when you post will roll a number 1-10 like so: 5XdJbxvn
The number rolled will not change if you edit your post, so please do not try to cheat. I have a dice testing thread HERE if anyone would like to practice using the dice.
This is where your cats' BONUSES will come in to play (the ones logged in the table HERE). You will write them after the dice code like this: +1 = 2
Cats also get +1 if they are hiding or seeking in their own territory, so it is possible to get a bonus from -1, +0, +1, or +2. After the dice is rolled and bonuses are accounted for, the final number is your cats' hiding or seeking number, depending on their role in the round.
HIDERS have 24 real-life hours to hide in any area before the seeker is allowed to start looking for them. Whenever they want to hide, they roll the dice and add any bonuses to get their hiding number. Every 12 real-life hours that pass since that last post, hiders can try to reroll their hiding number to get something higher, but this also gives the chance of getting a lower number. It is not required to reroll your number!
When a SEEKER arrives in an area, they roll a seeking number and add any bonuses, just as the hiders do. If their number is higher than any of the hiders' numbers, they will be able to find the hider with the lowest hiding number and roleplay this unfolding out in their next post(s). This hider is then out and returns to the feast area. In this fashion, only one cat can be found at a time; however, if two or more cats are hiding together, the one who rolled the lowest hiding number is what counts for both cats, and the seeker can find both of them at once. If the seeker rolls a number that is lower than all of the hiders, they find no one. In the event that two cats are tied for the lowest hiding number, the seeker can choose which to find, and the other cat remains hidden.
Just as the hiders can only reroll their hides once every 12 real-life hours, seekers can only reroll their seeks every 12 hours - if they remain in the same area. The exception to this 12 hour rule is if cats TRAVEL to a new area. Both hiders and seekers can travel, but hiders can only travel if a seeker is not in their area (otherwise they will give themselves away). They must write an IC post that they are leaving the current area and are traveling to the new area. In this new area, hiders or seekers can roll a new hiding or seeking number as soon as they arrive. Traveling can be done as much as desired.
Roleplaying along with the dice is still very much encouraged! If the seeker isn't in their area, hiders can feel free to talk to any cats nearby. If there are two or more seekers, they can work together and talk or split up to cover more ground. If there are any questions,
comments, or concerns, please PM me! I love it when people get creative with what their characters can do!·
