capricorn
A gentle snowflake fluttered down from the sky like a falling leaf, graceful and shiny. A snoring, small kit hung over the side of a short ledge, his nose touching the cold ground and his paws dangling like the toys his housefolk lured him wih. 'Toys' were things he had never fallen for, of course; his housemates may have adored the cooing sounds their caretakers made when they purred, but the tall figures unsettled this particular tom.
But they didn't unsettle him enough that he'd run away from the den. No, Capricorn rarely left his den voluntarily; rather, he had been convinced by a few of his housemates to come out and play, and had been accidentally locked out of the den. Bummer. It wasn't like this was rarity; he often found himself in sticky situations like this. But he'd often be missed by now, seeked out by the Woman, and brought back inside. It had been taking longer than usual; and it was especially unfortunate considering the current weather.
Capricorn was sleeping, however, and the beginning of the snowfall barely phased him. That is, until a large clump of snow plopped down from a sad tree and straight onto the top of the kit's head.
"Hey!" The tom growled, immediately jumping up and kicking his legs, trying to flick off the snow that slid onto his muzzle with his ears. Who was that, and who do they think they're dealing with? He glanced around a bit, suspiciously. A kit, and a pet, at that. He answered for himself.
He looked up, glaring at the branches of the tree. He soon spotted a bushy-tailed red squirrel, looking back at him with an almost mocking expression. As if squirrels could be mocking! "Hey, you bitch!" He squeaked louder, narrowing his eyes as the squirrel bonded away. He then stifled a giggle, knowing if he said that word around his housemates he'd surely be mincemeat. That's one advantage of being stuck out here.
Yawning, Capricorn leaped down a few stone steps, feeling light snow starting to tickle his pelt. "Great," he murmured to himself, not really sure where he was going.
Wherever he was going, it was farther into the city, where the dens got taller and more bunched up and the sounds got louder and the air got stinkier. He hadn't been here before; but his paws seemed to be anxious to move, so the tom didn't stop. Perhaps I can find a rogue that knows a way into a den. He snorted at his own thought. A rogue? I'm just a kit. A rogue won't help a kit. If I do run into a rogue, I can bet I'm going to be their next meal.
