Palepetal arose from her nest, dawn making its way into the early morning sky. She gingerly stepped over the paws and tails that were her clanmates, her sleeping, dreaming clanmates. She grumbled in annoyance. Oh, how she wished it was her still sleeping. But no, she was graced with the presence of an apprentice. Hooray, right?
The white she-cat had specifically informed her apprentice Thymepaw to meet her at the entrance of the camp, right at dawn. She was somewhat true to her word, at least when it came to first impressions. She sat down, curling her fluffy tail around her paws. Her mossy green eyes scanned the camp for her so called apprentice.
Sleep had not left her quite yet, for sitting there alone she had begun to close her eyes and drift off to sleep. She slumped over, a slight snore coming from her as she sat there. The sun peaked over the horizon, marking dawn's arrival. Thymepaw would be here any moment, but Palepetal's sleeping form gave no message that she was ready; not at all.
The moment she started to tip over, her eyes snapped open and she caught herself. Her ears burned with embarrassment and she stood, shaking out her soon to be burning pelt. She gulped and looked at the sky. She supposed he was on his way, at least she really hoped he hadn't seen that. She shook her head in dismissal of the event. If no one saw, it never happened. There was no way Palepetal would stoop down to getting caught sleeping on the job, no way, no how. She was definitely too dignified and confident to say so, in the least.
The chubby white she-cat blinked a few more times, shooing the remainder of sleep left in her away. She needed to be awake, and on her utmost behavior.
